Lisbeth Salander returns to Sweden after spending a year outside of the country's borders. A few weeks before freelance journalist Dag Svensson is to publish an exposé on Sweden's sex traffiking business, he and his girlfrend are found shot to death in their Stockholm apartment. With a history of violent tendencies, Lisbeth is suspected of the murders when police find her fingerprints on the gun. Now Mikael Blomkvist has to do what he can to reach her before the authorities do.
