Introduction:

20-year-old Sophie Sheridan (Amanda Seyfried) lives with her doting mother Donna (Meryl Streep) on a small Greek island, where Donna runs the “Villa Donna.” Sophie is going to marry Sky (Dominic Cooper), and wants her father to be present to “give her away”, but does not know who he is; from Donna’s diary of 20 years ago, she concludes he is one of three men Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Harry (Colin Firth), and Bill (Stellan Skarsgård) mentioned in it; she invites all three without telling Donna or Sky, and hopes to find out who is her father. In the past, when Sam and Donna were together, Sam had to leave because he was engaged to another woman, Lorraine.
